Model Portfolio Shoot Cost in Bangalore (What You Actually Pay)

Two models during a modeling portfolio shoot in a Bangalore studio

Ask about the model portfolio shoot cost in Bangalore and most photography websites will not give you a price. You fill a form, wait for a call, and then get a number that means nothing because you have nothing to compare it against.

This post fixes that. Here is what a model portfolio shoot really costs in Bangalore, what pushes the price up, and where people lose money.

The short answer

A decent portfolio shoot in Bangalore starts at around ten thousand rupees.

  • Outdoor shoot: starts near Rs 9,999 for two looks
  • Studio shoot: starts near Rs 14,999, because of the lighting setup and backdrop work
  • What most people actually pay: Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000, once makeup and an extra look are added

Across Bangalore studios, published prices run from about Rs 7,000 at the low end up to Rs 75,000 for premium hill station packages. Anything under Rs 6,000 is almost always outdoor only, with no makeup artist and no real lighting.

What actually changes the price

Number of looks

This is the biggest factor. A basic shoot covers two looks. Each extra look adds around Rs 5,000, because it means more shoot time, more styling, and usually another makeup change.

Studio or outdoor

Outdoor is cheaper. Studio costs more, and it is not the room rent. It is the lighting setup and the backdrop built for your specific looks. If your budget is tight, start outdoors.

Makeup

Makeup is almost always charged separately. Budget Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000.

It goes higher when your looks are very different from each other. Traditional and modern in the same session means the makeup artist is doing two full jobs. This is where budgets quietly double. If money is tight, keep the looks simple and skip the advanced ones.

Edited images and RAW files

Most studios give you 8 to 15 edited images. Ask one extra question: do you also get the unedited RAW files?

Agencies sometimes ask for plain, unretouched frames. Many studios hold those back, so you have to come back and pay again to get your own photos.

Travel

Shoots outside Bangalore, in Mysore, Goa or anywhere else, add travel and stay on top of the shoot price.

The problem with a Rs 5,000 shoot

A cheap shoot is not a smaller version of a good shoot. It is a different thing.

At Rs 5,000 or Rs 6,000, you are getting an outdoor session, no makeup artist, basic equipment, and usually someone who does not know what a casting agency is looking for. You will get two looks and a folder of photos.

Here is the part nobody warns you about. Those photos get sent to agencies. The agency rejects them. And that was your one first impression with that agency. You did not save Rs 10,000. You spent Rs 5,000 and burned your first shot.

Reshooting later costs you the full price anyway.

A real example

A model contacted us for a quote. We gave her our price. Someone else offered to do the whole thing for three or four thousand rupees.

She paid the advance. No photos were delivered. The phone stopped being answered.

She came back to us weeks later, having lost the advance and the time. We worked out a price with her and shot it properly. But the cheap option cost her more than the real one would have.

How to check a photographer before you pay

Before any advance changes hands, do these four things.

  1. Read the Google reviews. Not the testimonials on their own website. The reviews on their Google listing.
  2. Check whether the studio actually exists. A real address you can visit. If everything happens over WhatsApp and there is no place to walk into, be careful.
  3. Look at the website. A working, detailed website is not proof of quality, but no website at all is a real warning sign.
  4. Get the deliverables in writing. Number of looks, number of edited images, whether RAWs are included, delivery time, and what makeup costs. Before you pay.

Also ask for a proper invoice. GST invoicing is standard for professional studios, and it means there is a paper trail.

What a fair deal looks like

You should know all of this before paying:

  • How many looks are included
  • How many edited images you get
  • Whether the RAW files are yours
  • What makeup costs and who arranges it
  • How long delivery takes
  • How much advance is due, and how much is paid on shoot day

A typical advance is around 10 percent. If someone wants the full amount upfront before you have met them, ask why.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a model portfolio shoot cost in Bangalore?

Outdoor shoots start around Rs 9,999 for two looks. Studio shoots start around Rs 14,999. Most people pay Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 once makeup and an extra look are added.

Why is a studio shoot more expensive than outdoor?

Because of the lighting setup and the backdrop built for your looks. Outdoor uses natural light, so there is less setup cost.

Is makeup included in the portfolio shoot price?

Usually not. Expect Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 extra, and more if your looks are very different from each other.

How much does one extra look cost?

Around Rs 5,000, because it adds shoot time, styling and often a makeup change.

Do I get the unedited RAW photos?

Depends on the studio. Many do not give them. Ask before booking, because agencies sometimes ask for plain unretouched frames.

Is a Rs 5,000 portfolio shoot worth it?

Rarely. It usually means no makeup artist, basic equipment, and photos that get rejected by agencies. Reshooting costs you full price anyway.

How much advance should I pay?

Around 10 percent is normal, with the balance on shoot day. Be careful with anyone asking for the full amount upfront.
