What a model portfolio shoot costs in Bangalore, what you get for the money, and how to avoid paying for a shoot that does not help you.
A model portfolio shoot in Bangalore costs about Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 with us. Outdoor shoots start near Rs 9,999 for two looks. Studio shoots start near Rs 14,999. Most people end up paying Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 once makeup and an extra look are added.
We have shot more than 300 portfolios since we started, and we also cast models for our own brand shoots. So we see portfolios from both sides: as the photographer and as the person choosing who gets the job. This post breaks down what you pay for, what you get, and how to avoid paying for a shoot that does not help you.
Model portfolio shoot prices in Bangalore
- Outdoor shoot, 2 looks: from about Rs 9,999. Shoot only. Makeup, costumes and extras are not included.
- Studio shoot: from about Rs 14,999.
- Each extra look: about Rs 5,000.
- Makeup artist: Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, depending on the look. We arrange the artist.
- What most clients pay in the end: Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000.
A “look” means one outfit, hair and makeup combination. Two looks is enough to start. If you want Western, casual, fitness and a clean agency set, plan for three or four.
What you get for the money
- A 2 to 3 hour shoot with direction on every pose.
- 8 to 10 fully edited images.
- All the raw, unedited images from the shoot.
- A planning meeting before the shoot to fix the looks, mood board and makeup.
- Delivery within 7 working days. Urgent delivery in 2 days if you need it for a casting.
The planning meeting happens at our Koramangala studio or on Google Meet. We decide the looks together, so you do not show up with five outfits and no plan.
Outdoor or studio: which one should you pick?
Outdoor is cheaper and gives a natural, lifestyle feel. We shoot on the outskirts of Bangalore and on city streets. Timing matters a lot: early morning between 6:30 and 8:30 am, or evening between 3 and 6:30 pm. Midday sun gives harsh shadows under the eyes, so we avoid it.
Studio costs more but gives you control. Clean backgrounds, even light, and no weather risk. If you are applying to agencies, studio shots and plain Polaroid style digitals are what casting teams want to see first.
Many people do both: a studio set for agencies and one outdoor look for social media.
Why cheap portfolio shoots cost more later
When we cast for brand shoots, we see the same problems again and again in amateur portfolios: bad angles, wrong colour, heavy filters and low quality files. The worst problem is when the model looks completely different on the day of the shoot. The brand has already paid for the studio and crew, and the shoot cannot be moved.
After that happens once, casting teams stop trusting phone photos. A clean, honest portfolio that shows what you really look like gets you more calls than a heavily edited one.
How to get the most out of your shoot
- Go light on makeup. The most common mistake we see is too much makeup. It shows up white under flash and ruins the photos. Unless you are an expert, use just moisturiser and let the makeup artist handle the rest.
- Practice posing in a mirror a few days before. We will show you poses and references on set, but it helps if you have tried a few already.
- Bring the outfits you planned, ironed and ready.
- Sleep well the night before. Tired eyes are hard to fix in editing.
Our studio has a private changing room, and you are welcome to bring a friend or a parent along.
Is a professional portfolio worth it?
The question we hear most from freshers is, “Will I get work after this?” The honest answer: a portfolio does not guarantee jobs. But without a professional portfolio, do not expect proper paid projects. It is the first thing a casting team looks at.
More than 20 models who shot their portfolio with us were later selected for our own brand shoots. One fresher came to us with only phone photos. After the shoot, someone saw their images in our gallery and picked them for a runway show.
How to book
Book at least 3 days in advance. You pay 10% to confirm the date and the rest on the shoot day.
